Coalition Calls for Immediate Humanitarian and Diplomatic Intervention for Egyptian Christian Convert

17 February 2026 – Jubilee Campaign joins Coptic Solidarity and over 20 organisations calling on the Home Minister of Australia to help stop the arbitrary detention of Said Abdelrazek, an Egyptian Christian engaged to an Australian national and imprisoned by Egyptian authorities for being vocal about his Christian conversion online.

Since July 2025 authorities have been detaining Mr. Abdelrazek in poor conditions which amount to cruel and inhumane treatment. The coalition of NGOs led by Coptic Solidarity are calling on the authorities to grant Mr. Abdelrazek humanitarian visa. Egypt has been increasingly been using terrorism allegations to target individuals for holding non-majority religious beliefs , targeting particularly Christians who have left Islam and Coptic Christians who expose lived discrimination, such as Augustinos Samaan.
