In July 2015, Hu was disappeared by CCP officials during a nationwide crackdown on human rights and democracy activists and lawyers. In January 2016, Hu’s family received an arrest notice stating that Hu was under investigation for “subversion of state power.” In is arrest notice there was also a photograph of Hu’s baptism.
