Attack on Kai village, Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State
|
On Sunday, June 24, Fulani militants attacked over a dozen towns in the Barkin Ladi, Mangu and Riyom local government areas of Plateau State. The militants burned homes, plundered villages, and shot indiscriminately at innocent men, women, and children in a 48-hour siege. Over 200 individuals have died from the attacks, a figure that continues to rise as scores of victims injured with gunshot wounds flee to hospitals or other villages in search of refuge.
The Plateau State government imposed a curfew affective immediately on Sunday night, restricting movement from 6pm-6am in the Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South Local Government Areas to prevent a further collapse of law and order.
